Road Trip

This weekend was Cathleya's first road trip. We went to LA for Auntie May-May's (Marielle) birthday. Of course we pick the weekend with one of the biggest rain storms of the season. But she did fairly well. We planned it just right on the way down. We left soon after her bottle around 3pm. After a little protesting at being confined to the car seat, she fell asleep. She slept until we got to San Luis Obispo. We stopped off to visit my friends who had a baby boy of their own two weeks earlier.

Gabriel Soliman. What a cutie.

After our personal concert from Mike on his new grand piano, and some food in our bellies, a clean diaper, we departed in the drizzle and went our marry way. She slept until like 5 exits away from Agoura. It was time to eat again.

We arrived in Agoura to little to no rain and some wonderful news. There's a Banducci bun in the oven, incubating until early September. CONGRATS MARIELLE, ERIC, & NICK!! Cathleya's going to have a new cousin. =)

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting friends who had their little girl a month after Cathleya.

Emma Vivien Garcia.

And Chris' cousins opened up a Red Mango in Lakewood so we checked out the new shop. Little did we know, more than half of the Aunties and Uncles were visiting at the same time. That was their first time meeting Cathleya. Luckily she was in a fairly good mood.

The drive back up to San Jose wasn't quite as smooth as the trip south. We got hungry before she did, so we stopped in Santa Barbara for some fast food. She woke up about an hour later in Santa Maria. The car bottle warmer was useless so we had to find a coffee shop to ask for a cup of boiling water to warm up her bottle. We fed her in the car and I changed her diaper without getting out. Thanks, Cathleya, for not making a stinky one that time. She doesn't usually sleep that soon after her bottle during the day, but we didn't want to wait around in the rain too long to play with her and let her stretch her legs. She protested the chair and sleep. It took a while longer to calm her down. She finally went back to sleep to wake up about 2.5 hours later, so we stopped in Solidad. I nursed her and played with her a while. Again, she didn't want to go back in the car seat. Thirty minutes of crying later she naps once more. But it wasn't a pleasant nap. She'd wake up once and a while. When we got home there was still water falling from the sky. Our thermostat said 58 degrees in the house. A bit chilly. But she was glad to be home... we all were. And we get to do it all again in March for a wedding in Long Beach.P.S. That beautiful flowery blanket is complements of Chris' coworker. Check out her crafty goodies on purlyshells.com. She's got cool handmade stuff for sale.
