13 and Counting

If you've noticed my lack of entries, that means I'm really really busy at work and haven't had time to write. Well, I finally found some time to upload 2-3 months worth of photos on our Flickr.

Our little one has been growing and growing. More in personality than in stature. She's still around 18-19lbs. She still fits some 9 month clothes. But her vocabulary is astonishing for a child her age. She's even using the potty, thanks to daycare. More by schedule than on queue, but that's okay. She's learning.

Every spherical fruit or melon is an apple. Every vehicle is either a choo choo or bus. And "up, peese" just means change my physical status. It could mean down, it could me up. Its just whatever is opposite of her current state. She'll say "Done" when she doesn't want to eat that anymore, and hand you the bowl. But if you put something tasty in front of her again, she'll still eat it. She's learning what she likes to eat and what she doesn't like. She'll spit it out and hand it to you. Then every spoonful thereafter is carefully examined before allowed in her mouth. As if we'd try to sneak fish under her corn and rice. Yes, apparently she doesn't like tilapia anymore. Oh yes, and every utensil is a "fok". R's are kind of hard, so fork and shirt turn her into a potty mouth.

She's learned to use her baby seat to climb up and down and up and down the couch. I've been told that at daycare she'll pull the dining chair over to her high chair and climb up the chair, into her high chair, and sits down. Amazing.

When she sees a dog or a picture of one, she'll start panting. =) She's so cute.

Her mental capacity soaks up so much. She understands to get a certain toy, or potty means to walk to the bathroom, where to go for a bath. Quite the child prodigy. And a golf club is used to hit a ball. Daddy is so proud. No complete sentences yet, but you know she understands them. She loves reading books and will pull every book off the shelf for you to read.

She's got an even set of 8 teeth; 4 on top, 4 on the bottom. She'll tell you when she wants to walk and isn't afraid to walk around the table at a restaurant or down the aisles at Target. Definitely a candidate for a leash. Not sure I want to go there, though. Hopefully not. But we'll see.

Self feeding is coming along. She still needs help sometimes. But her aim is pretty good. Its just which side of the spoon goes up, that's a problem sometimes.

Not a day goes by that we're not amazed or proud of her developmental accomplishments so far in her short life. From what we hear from other moms that she her in action and say "How old is she?", kids this young generally aren't nearly as advanced as she is. That just means Daddy and I have to be on alert at all times.... dangerous.
