21, Independence Day & Baby Measles

Independence day came with a bang. Cathleya turned 21 months old and developed baby measles. Otherwise known as Roseola.

She had about 4 days of up and down fever, with a highest temp at 102.6. Her doctor said it can go as high as 104 - 105. That's just crazy. But her immune system was fighting it off pretty good, the dr. said. She didn't have any other symptoms when I took her in on Monday. Just a bit lethargic when her temp was at it's peaks, but otherwise she didn't act sick at all. Now she's on day 6, day 2 of the rash. She's got tiny red dots all over her torso and some on her cheeks. Poor baby. But she still has no other symptoms. Its not supposed to be itchy so that's good. But she has been rather moody and fussy since her rash started. We can't wait until its over.

Otherwise, Cathleya's been growing and saying the funniest, cutest, weirdest things.... as all kids do at some point. Some of her favorites lately are...
  • Mommy: "Want some (noun)?" Cathleya: "No (noun) for me.
  • I want more!
  • My turn, my turn.
  • (When Mickey episode is done) What happened to Mickey?
  • (When Mommy has wet hair) Mommy all wet.
  • (When Daddy/Mommy enter's the room in the morning) Not Mommy/Daddy
  • Come here, Mommy. (While she pulls my finger to walk me somewhere)
As you'll see below, Cathleya went to Santa Cruz for the first time this month with her cousins, Jessica & Kevin. She had lots of fun playing in the sand. We tried to take her into the water. While dragging Jessica's wagon, we get to the wet part of the sand near the water line. She took one step on the wet sand, stopped, looked down at her feet, then took a step back onto the dry sand. Her piggies didn't even touch the waves. We need to work on her.

She's got some big plans for the summer. Palm Springs, maybe stopping at Disneyland on the way, a weekend in SLO, and lots of BBQs. She'll be super dark by the time winter comes along. Not like she isn't dark already, at least by Mommy's standards. She gets to go to the park nearly every day. She gets pretty brave on the slides and loves the swings. She's the little daredevil.

Too cool for the room. And yes. She's saying "butt."

A visit to Santa Cruz

Why haven't you been posting more videos? Because this is all you would see...
