2 Months

Do you know what I was doing two months ago? Does your mom ever stay stuff like that to you on your birthday? Well, Cathleya turned 2 months yesterday. If you're a parent, you know what that means... SHOTS!!! She got her some of her immunizations yesterday. 4 pokes, 2 in each leg. She screamed til she turned red while the doctor stabbed her. But as soon as I took her, she stopped crying and started looking around again. What a trooper.

Cathleya is now 11 lbs, after filling a diaper before the doctor came in the room. And she's 22 inches long. That's about one inch per month. The doctor said she's neurologically like a 3 month old. Basically, from a developmental point of view, she's advanced for her age. Like how well she can hold her head up and her eyes follow you if you move around. Stuff like that. She's our little over achiever. When I said that the doctor said, "She's a girl, isn't she?!?!" =)

When it comes to finding doctors and stuff like that, its a combo of who's in our insurance's "in-network" and do we know anyone who can give a referral. This doctor was a referral from Chris' coworker. Her name is Dr. Horvath. She's an older lady with some sort of European accent. A cute little lady that rambles off keeping the kiddies entertained fairly well. See seems to work well with kids from what we've seen so far. I didn't have any extreme opinion of her one way or the other until this visit. Well, not extreme, but yeah. She mentioned 2 people in Alameda county died of whooping cough recently and asked if we had our DPT shots in the last 5 years. I haven't gotten any sort of shot since college. She told us what to ask our primary doctor for but said she could give it to us if our doctor didn't have it. Well the primary doctor I found by throwing the dart at the directory sold her practice to a pushy, not too friendly lady who we don't like so we have to find a new one. Therefore, we asked the pediatrician if she can do it for us. I expected to have to make another appointment, blah blah blah, but she just said, okay, got up and pulled out some shots from her cabinet. We just had to pay some extra copays. So the whole family got shots yesterday. She also asked me how I was doing and was concerned about the parents and not just the child patient. I think that is a good quality in a doctor. Some doctors make you wait 30 minutes in the waiting room to treat you for 2 minutes while talking as fast as they can just to get your copay and shoo you out the door without really caring what's going on. Just treat the one problem and get out. But Dr. Horvath went the extra step to make sure we were healthy so we can keep Cathleya healthy. I'm glad we picked her.

Cathleya slept in the car while we drove to get some sushi after her appointment. We figured she was out anyway, we might as well try to take advantage of it. She woke up before we got our food but was content to look around at the many hanging lights on the ceiling. She was doing very well. But once we got home she was screaming her little lungs out. I'd feed her and eventually get her to nap, but if anything woke her up she'd scream bloody murder again. We gave her a little baby Tylenol like the doctor suggested and it helped. Mommy and Daddy are very proud of her. =)
