Number 2's heartbeat and our healthcare system

Just as with Cathleya, I've been going to all of Melissa's monthly checkups. Aside from genuine fatherly support, I'm there to hear the baby's heartbeat and hear the words, "Everything is moving along smoothly!" So far, each check up on the new baby's progress has taken roughly 5 to 10 minutes. Each visit costs 200 buckaroos. That's $2400 to $1200 AN HOUR!!! Combine that with our new healthcare coverage that was changed to a crappier, more-expensive-for-the-patient, deductible-where-there-wasn't-one-before, PPO plan, and you've got the makings of PROFIT!!! (for the insurance company anyway).

That being said, it's ingenious. It's ingenious because Cigna knows that I'm willing to pay that much for the reassurance that our new baby is okay and to hear his/her beautiful heartbeat for that 15 seconds.
